Our Care Plans
The high quality of life we are seeking on behalf of our residents can be attributed to the physical surrounds, the level of care, the quality of our staff and the social engagement and activities of the home. While each of our homes is run to the same high standards and delivers the very best in professional care, the specific facilities and services you will find in each home will be different. We can, however, give you an idea of what to expect in our homes.
Our person centred care approach means that you will be respected as an individual and treated with dignity. Every resident has a personal care plan which recognises their individual needs and wishes. The care plan also documents all aspects of the care you need to ensure consistency and continuity of quality care.
Three of our homes specialise in caring for people with dementia and dementia related conditions. We provide safe environments that are adapted to the unique needs of the resident so that they can enjoy as much independence and mental and physical stimulation as possible.
Our activities programme includes arts and crafts, reminiscence therapy, exercise and musical entertainment. We also encourage residents to carry out small tasks throughout the day, such as laying the table, arranging flowers for the home and folding laundry which helps retain self esteem and involvement in daily life.
We wish to understand each resident’s life history and ask for help from the resident’s friends and family. Understanding the reason behind an action can help us manage our resident’s frustrations when they are unable to express what they want.
The importance of understanding a resident’s life history is widely recognised in particular for those with dementia. If your family member is moving into a care home you may wish to prepare a scrapbook or keepsake box which helps trigger memory recollection. The possibilities are endless but perhaps include certificates, trophies, knick knacks, letters or concert programmes, tickets to sporting events that have special significance. Enlarge, laminate and label photographs of different events through their lives, maybe a CD of favourite music. There is no right or wrong regarding contents, each will reflect the individual’s rich tapestry of life.
