Providing Exceptional Care

Coppelia House

A relaxed residential care home on the edge of Dartmoor.

Stepping into Coppelia House is very much like walking into somebody's home. This traditional country house is situated in the wonderful market town of Moretonhampstead and has a long history of over 100 years as a care home.

Now registered to accommodate 30 people, we have made a number of improvements to create an accessible, relaxed environment while still maintaining the building’s character and charm. We provide residential care for people requiring additional support to live as independently as possible, including those with mild onset dementia.

Life at our Dartmoor residential home

The light-filled lounge is the heart of the home, with windows overlooking the garden on both sides and large French doors providing easy access outdoors. This is a lovely spot for our tradition of sherry before Sunday lunch and for hosting our monthly 'open house' coffee mornings.

The dining room is ideal for sharing sociable mealtimes, with delicious, homecooked meals prepared by our chefs. When possible, these incorporate our own produce, with everyone helping to tend to the raised beds.

A varied activities programme

There is always something to do at Coppelia, with a carefully planned programme of events and clubs to choose from. Our activity room is perfect for smaller groups and we also have a hairdressing salon. Reminiscence memorabilia is dotted around the home, along with signage and handrails to promote independent mobility.

Local amenities are within easy walking distance, including a variety of shops, pubs, library and church.

Bedrooms at Coppelia

Our bedrooms all have an ensuite WC and hand basin, with a 24 hour call bell system. Personalise your room with keepsakes such as photos and pictures and enjoy the views – many overlook the attractive garden and beyond.

Our beautiful garden

The garden is a tranquil haven divided into two areas by an old stone wall. It makes a scenic spot to eat al fresco with plenty of visiting wildlife and well-established planting. It's perfect for pottering or a gentle stroll. You will often find flowers from the garden arranged around the house.

Hopefully, this gives you an insight into life at Coppelia House care home. To find out more, please contact us for a chat about your situation and to arrange an appointment to visit.
